Experience of a Lifetime

I have been in the Skincare, makeup, image industry for 20+ years helping women see their beauty. Everything from everyday makeup, wedding day, pageant, photo shoots, and TV interviews. Today I was able to have a first. I was the makeup artist on location for a national TV program doing a shoot here in Phoenix. It was an all day gig AND so fun.

Here’s a couple of pics from the day. I’ll post the show when it airs.

Thanks for sharing in my excitement. I just had to share right away. Someone else took the pics of me doing my thing. I’ll update this post when I receive them.

Have an amazing day!

Fashion Night Out – Enlighten Studio

Yes, I have been MIA… I’ll explain in another post. In this post I’ll be sharing my review & experience at the Fashion Night Out event at Enlighten Studio for the Matrix Glossy event which was held Thursday, September 6th, 5pm-8:30PM in Old Town Scottsdale (AZ).

I have been invited to other locations and stores during this fun celebration of fashion in the past. And have enjoyed each of the events for their own unique reasons, but THIS event was particularly fun. Was it the location, event coordinator, guest list, gifts, or services… Well, all of the above.  Yvonne, the Enlighten Studio owner and master stylist/colorist really put a lot of thought and effort into planning the event from the decor and food to the gifts and services available for guest. It was not a huge event if you were to compare it to what the local mall was doing but it held it’s own in so many ways.

Guests could participate in a couple different ways: pre-purchase a ticket for two different packages which included color and styling, makeup lesson/makeover (from me), and a swag bag or just attend and enjoy the festivities get some pointers and meet some great women. There was a very special and fun bonus… Lauren from Destination Arizona was on location filming the before and afters & interviewing guests. She’s a fun fashionista.

Here’s some of the setup behind the scenes before guests arrived.ImageMy set up. I just pulled the most popular color of the season to show.ImageThe custom cupcakes.ImageThe decor and swag bags.

When guests started to arrive the energy was up with great music from a live DJ, yummy nibbles from Lesley’s Creative Cakes Flower and Catering, beautiful jewelry display from Becky Kessing from Parklane Jewelry, and of course the fantastic hair and makeup services.  I have never been so busy during one of these events as this one. There was someone in my chair the entire time and beyond the official end to the event. Everyone was having so much fun they were just hanging out and networking afterward.

Here are a few photos I was able to take in-between some my sessions. I really didn’t have much time and I of course would only remember after the fact. If you pop on to Facebook here Enlighten Studios they had a few people posting through the evening.

ImageThis guest wanted a “very natural, going to bed look”… so that is what I gave her.

So, in a nut shell, I had a ton of fun working with all the guests and Enlighten Studios stylists. I would do it again.

Here’s me.

What did  you do for Fashion Night Out?

Promoting my Business – Wine Women and Wings to Soar event

I was given a great opportunity to showcase my Image Consulting Business at the Wine Women and Wings to Soar event held at the ASU Polytechnic Campus. The sponsors National Bank of Arizona did a lovely job of pulling all the details together, food, beverages, door prizes and special gifts for each person in attendance. We also had the privilege to listen to a panel of inspirational women sharing their experience in the world of technology.

I was able to meet some fantastic ladies and share my business with them, JackieStyle. Help women look and feel their best through image services including skin care, make up application, color analysis, body typing, fashion personality, closet makeovers, personal shopping, wardrobing, workshops and more.

I had a little challenge trying to put together what I felt was the “right” display. You’ll have to let me know if what I put together did that justice.

April Photo a Day 5-7

I have had really good eye site for as long as I can remember. So you can image how not being able to read the color names on my lip colors can be frustrating…

6. Lunch I didn’t have anything fun or exciting for lunch so I thought it would be funny to take a photo of hubby’s lunch. I lovingly pack his lunch for him before he heads off to work. It saves us so much money and it’s healthier for him too. Plus leftovers get eaten, everyone is happy.

Lunch - to go

7. Shadow I thought is was funny that on Easter Day the topic was Shadow… Not egg? bunny? CHOCOLATE?? Nope, Shadow. This was taken while the boys where hunting for EGGS, eating CHOCOLATE, talking about BUNNY’s

Shadow on Easter.

Have you noticed a change in your eyes?

Do you pack a lunch?

Fashion & Make Up March Photo a day 7-9

Here I go to continue the photo a day (catch up).

7. Something you wore  I chose this outfit for the March 7th as I was invited to speak for a women’s group EVFN. They tend to be older and I wanted to have a conservative look. So I wore a great wide leg grey trouser (you can see from a previous post), a button down navy pinstripe shirt and these FAB tweed heels. I was well received by the ladies, so I guess I did good.

Something I wore.

8. Window By the end of the day my creative juices were done and the boys were in bed so I only had a few window options open.  This is in my bedroom… I hung my dream board off the sheers so I could look at it every day.

9. Red LIp colour… This is one of my favorite lip colors right now. Cherry Blossom and it is of course from BeautiControl. It is a lip stick, stain and gloss all in one called an “Intense Lip Creme”. I have to use a mirror to apply, most other kinds I don’t have to.

Fashion – Skin Care – Makeup – February Photo a Day 22, 23, 24, and 25.

Yes, I am lumping several days into one post, again. Finding my rhythm to write my posts have been difficult for me. I, as many moms do, have a lot on my plate. Not an excuse, just the truth.

Day 22. Where you Work  My motto has been “Have car will travel” when it come to my business.  My work is done at your kitchen table across from you, in your clothing closet, at the your store of choice, or at the event of your choice.  I am independent so I go where I am needed/wanted. This photo is specifically of my BeautiControl Bag and all the goodies inside… BC Skin Spa Facial line, all the “face lift” products, of course a full army of cosmetics.

Across the Kitchen Table from you.

Day 23. Your Shoes  Remember when I shared a good friend of mine gave me some shoes?  Here is another pair. They were surprisingly comfortable and of course super chic.

My Chic Green Shoes.

Day 24. Inside Your Bathroom Cabinet  I was sooo dreading this one. But I guess we have a lot of the same things everyone else has.

Bathroom Cabinet

Here is my favorite part of the bathroom cabinet. My skin care.  Yes, I know that I have some bias, but I truly would not be using it if I didn’t love it and see results. (BeautiControl’s BC Spa Facial Regime)  And, there is a NEW item in there that I am sooo enjoying, TFF (Tight Firm and Fill) Extreme (silver bottle). This stuff totally rocks.

Day 25. Green This is a necklace my grandmother gave me while she was still alive. She wore it when she was “young”. I don’t wear a lot of green but when I do I pull this necklace out.  In fact I wore them the day I wore the chic green shoes from above. I don’t have a lot from her so this is really special to me.

Fashion – Sharing Word of Wisdom – Interview Style

I had the privilege to meet with a group of ladies working on getting their GEDs.  They were all there for various reasons that really don’t matter. What matters is that they were there. Talking about personal image and style is one of my great joys.  Another joy is helping women create there personal style.

This day I was invited to speak on Interview Attire. What to wear, what to avoid, and how to make the best of it.  Here are some ideas for what will work.  Investing in a suit that fits well is a great. Preferably a 3 piece (Jacket, Skirt and Pant) this way you will never doubt if they match, because they will.  And black is a safe bet or a subtle pinstripe. A comfortable black shoe with a bit of a heal is nice. Several blouses you can mix and match. If you like a print keep it subtle.  You want the interviewer to notice you not your blouse. On that note, be sure that your blouse is also modest in nature. Small to medium earrings (studs but no dangle) will add to the look. You want to keep your accessories to 5 tops and each earring counts as one.

Wearing make up is important. Balance is the key over all, not to much not to little. Even if all your comfortable with is a tinted moisturizer, eye liner, mascara, blush and gloss put it on for that interview.  Meet with someone if you need tips on application and color choice.

Keep these personal hygiene items in mind as well.  Have clean fresh breath. If you smoke refrain from doing so before the interview. Carry toothbrush and paste with you and “febreeze”.  Make sure your clothes are clean and pressed and shoes clean.  Keep perfume to a minimum, infact it is best not to wear any.

Breath deeply before going in. Hold you head high, shoulders up, back, down… when you shake hands try to make sure you are palm to palm and look them in the eyes.

Good luck!
