A New Year – Full of Hope & Promise

A year ago I decided to start blogging. It was a fun adventure with ups and downs and LOTS of learning curves. I am sorry I have been MIA lately. Some family and health things have kept me from taking the time to sit down and pour out my thoughts on fashion, food and family.  I hope you will forgive me.  I have a plan for the New Year and hope to have some balance in this area. I miss it and you.

Praying for a year full of hope, promise, blessings and health for you and yours.

Finishing up Photo a day June

I really should finish June since July is almost done. lol Only two more topics for this month. I was having some challenges with iPhoto uploading my July photos, but now everything is good. It was simple I just didn’t know it. 🙂 Oh well.

5. Sign  I was given this little sign with a big message to keep me inspired in my business. It’s fun and cute and well, I like the theme.

Sign – Dream Big

17. In your bag  Father’s Day gift.  I missed getting my dad’s gift photoed, bummer. This is what we gave hubby’s dad. Kinda a gag gift with sentimental value. I was given this weird “doll” before my hubby and I started dating.  Then I was invited to his family reunion in Yellow Stone. It was threatened that I would have to “camp”. (I don’t do camping well.) Luckily we were in “cabins”. Anyway, I decide to bring this silly doll along “Not a happy camper” and the person that was the most unhappy on the trip would have to wear it. Oh did I mention we drove with his family part way… Ends up Pa had to wear it a couple of time. I have a photo I can’t find of him wearing it. It’s really funny. When we got married it was buried in a box of “stuff”. I found it right before Father’s Day.  It made Pa laugh and remember that trip to Yellow Stone 14 years ago.

In your bag – Father’s Day gift

He also received this yummy wine:

Cupcake Wine – Red Velvet

AND we celebrated Mom’s Birthday with this yummy:

How did you celebrate Father’s Day?

Parenthood – Photo a Day – Kids

This month seems to be full of kid themed photos. I guess we just go with it. Here is day 4, 11, 16, 23, 25, 29.

4. Close-Up  Here is my Sweet P, up close and personal.

Close-Up of Sweet P

11. Door  This was the most interesting door I could come up with. This door is also one of the most popular in our house right now. There really is something tied to boys DNA that connect with truck, cars, engines and Ferrari’s, well in this house at least.

Door – Fire Truck

16. Out and About  This was a day that we were staying in. No out and about for us. Sweet P had decided at the time that he wanted to wear big boy pants and potty on the potty. He has at this point changed his mind. But this day this is what I was doing… the glamourous life of a mom.

No Out and About for this mom

23. Movement  There are very few places that have more movement than a kids birthday party. It was a fun filled Pirate Pool Party.

Movement – Pirate Pool Party

25. Something Cute  Of course I took a pic of my kid (and hubby). It was funny cause Sweet P and daddy were pretending to be asleep.

Something Cute – My boys

29. Soft  This handsome guy is so smart and strong, full of ideas and creations and all boy. Yet he has such a soft heart. He is well balanced between strong and soft. Love this kid so much. OH and by the way… this photo was taken right after he lost his first tooth. (Taken by daddy, edited by me.)

Soft – My Sweet boys heart

Home – June Photo a Day

Here is a small glimpse into my home from the Photo a Day challenge for June for days 13, 21, 27, 28, and 30. There are parts of my home that I truly love the way it looks and feels. Then there are other parts that in this phase of my life is a challenge to keep up.

13. Art  We were once told by an interior designer that most people don’t have enough artwork to work with for a redesign. We have an over abundance. We truly appreciate art and having beautiful pieces on our walls. We have a small home and our wall space is limited. We switch things around from time to time. Mostly I dream of the day we’ll have enough room for most of our “collection” to be displayed. Here is one of my favorites. It was a wedding gift from our dear friends.

Art – Paris Scene

21. Where you slept   Trying to make ones bedroom a haven is not the easiest thing with kids. It should be a place I can come to and feel like Jackie not mom or wife or… you know what I mean. Anyway, I am constantly finding cars, legos, stuffed animals and small people clothes in my bed, on the floor, or in my closet. It also ends up being the catch all space for the “stuff” you’re not sure where it should go when people pop over. Here is where I sleep under a beautiful parisian painting.

Where I slept

27. Bathroom  Yes, this is one of the rooms you may not ever get a great pic of… before kids it was a cute room. Not it is a boy bathroom. Still the same color and decor just “kid-a-fide”. We’d been swimming so these are the pretty beach towels hanging to dry.

Bathroom – Towels

28. On the Shelf  This shelf is above the painting of Paris from above. It is one of the areas I feel is most “me”. We did well with color selection, composition, and theme. I try to remember if I could do it once I can do it again.

On the Shelf – Paris love and surprises.

30. Friend  For some reason I wasn’t with friends on this day. However, we have a wall of family and friends in our living room.  The boys love looking up there and finding themselves and our different friends. We need to get a few more frames as our memories continue to grow each year as well as our children. Sweet P is always looking for more photos of him. Being the 2nd child we have tons of photos, just not on the wall yet. Poor Baby. Need to remedy that.

A Friend – Wall full of them

How do you keep “you” in a home full of “kid-ness”?

Parenthood – Photo a Day – Legos

My boys love Legos. I am not always a fan, especially when I step on them and they are ALL over the place. Oh and when I say my boys I mean ALL my boys, including my hubby. I married into Legos so they were in our home even before small ones.  I do love the creativity that comes from playing with them and the learning opportunities as well.

12. From a low angle One of C Boy’s creations.

From a low angle – Legos

Of course as soon as I started taking a photo of the Legos C Boy wanted to get even more creative and help me by setting up some shots. Then he decided he needed to help me edit them. Here is what we came up with.

Lego Fun 1

Super Lego Fun

22. From a high angle More Lego fun. As you can see those little pieces get everywhere…

From a high angle – Lego Play

Do you have Legos at your house?

Food – Photo a day June

I have been wondering if I should post the list of the photo a day so you can see it. Would you like that?  Here are the days that I’ll be doing in this blog, 3, 7, 8, & 14, all related to food somehow…

3. On your plate  We have a Sunday dinner tradition of eating with my parents and grandfather. Hubby doesn’t get to go but the boys love it. You’d think it would be roast and potatoes or something like that. You’d be wrong. We go to a place called Giant Hamburger. They really do have great burgers and french fries. The thing the boys like best is if they’ve eaten their dinner well they get to share a piece of pie, chocolate pie. Here is what was on my plate.

On my plate – burger and fries, yum!

7. Drink Do you get the souvenir cup from Harkins? It really is a great deal even if you only go a few times a year. The boys had just enjoyed using their cup at Summer Movie Fun.

Drink – Harkins Cup

8. Six O’Clock  I am so bad at getting the actual time that is requested. Here is the closest I could get that day. We were having dinner again with the grandparents.

6 o’clock – Dinner with the boys.

14. Time  5:00PM Somewhere… I had the opportunity to have a Mom’s Night Out with some of the moms from the kindergarten class. They are some fun ladies. I had a lovely glass of wine with them.

Time – 5:00 somewhere

June Photo a Day 1 – National Doughnut Day

What fun! National Doughnut Day. Who doesn’t like doughnuts, especially FREE ones. I didn’t eat any since I am still on my no sweets commitment… life change… thing. I took my mom and the boys over to our FAVORITE doughnut shop, Krispy Kreme. I have loved this place since I was a kid and my dad use to take my brother and I once a week after we dropped my mom at work. Good memories. Anyway, you can see them making the doughnuts through a window and the kids love it. (OK me too.)

1. Morning  At National Doughnut Day. We had to wait in this crazy line, since everyone was there for a free doughnut.

Morning – waiting in line and saw a Vintage sign on the wall

We of course didn’t just get our free doughnut we had to get a dozen…

The boys enjoying the “Morning”

Did you partake in National Doughnut day?
