Experience of a Lifetime

I have been in the Skincare, makeup, image industry for 20+ years helping women see their beauty. Everything from everyday makeup, wedding day, pageant, photo shoots, and TV interviews. Today I was able to have a first. I was the makeup artist on location for a national TV program doing a shoot here in Phoenix. It was an all day gig AND so fun.

Here’s a couple of pics from the day. I’ll post the show when it airs.

Thanks for sharing in my excitement. I just had to share right away. Someone else took the pics of me doing my thing. I’ll update this post when I receive them.

Have an amazing day!

Spring is in the Air – 40 Hanger Challenge

I thought when I started the 40 Hanger Challenge it would be done and over it by now. Somehow, I have this idea to keep going longer. Now it is Spring in AZ, mostly 80’s but have seen a few high 90’s already. Which means the February 40 hanger pieces no longer work.

Here’s what I’ll be focusing on to freshen my 40 hangers:

  • Pops of color (Purple of course, pinks, blues)
  • White capri’s, jeans,
  • Shorts – dressy and casual
  • Classy sleeveless

I already have most of these items in my boxes and will need to find them.

I will also be looking for cute up-to-date sandals and peep toe shoes.

What are you looking to add to your wardrobe this Spring?

Fashion Night Out – Enlighten Studio

Yes, I have been MIA… I’ll explain in another post. In this post I’ll be sharing my review & experience at the Fashion Night Out event at Enlighten Studio for the Matrix Glossy event which was held Thursday, September 6th, 5pm-8:30PM in Old Town Scottsdale (AZ).

I have been invited to other locations and stores during this fun celebration of fashion in the past. And have enjoyed each of the events for their own unique reasons, but THIS event was particularly fun. Was it the location, event coordinator, guest list, gifts, or services… Well, all of the above.  Yvonne, the Enlighten Studio owner and master stylist/colorist really put a lot of thought and effort into planning the event from the decor and food to the gifts and services available for guest. It was not a huge event if you were to compare it to what the local mall was doing but it held it’s own in so many ways.

Guests could participate in a couple different ways: pre-purchase a ticket for two different packages which included color and styling, makeup lesson/makeover (from me), and a swag bag or just attend and enjoy the festivities get some pointers and meet some great women. There was a very special and fun bonus… Lauren from Destination Arizona was on location filming the before and afters & interviewing guests. She’s a fun fashionista.

Here’s some of the setup behind the scenes before guests arrived.ImageMy set up. I just pulled the most popular color of the season to show.ImageThe custom cupcakes.ImageThe decor and swag bags.

When guests started to arrive the energy was up with great music from a live DJ, yummy nibbles from Lesley’s Creative Cakes Flower and Catering, beautiful jewelry display from Becky Kessing from Parklane Jewelry, and of course the fantastic hair and makeup services.  I have never been so busy during one of these events as this one. There was someone in my chair the entire time and beyond the official end to the event. Everyone was having so much fun they were just hanging out and networking afterward.

Here are a few photos I was able to take in-between some my sessions. I really didn’t have much time and I of course would only remember after the fact. If you pop on to Facebook here Enlighten Studios they had a few people posting through the evening.

ImageThis guest wanted a “very natural, going to bed look”… so that is what I gave her.

So, in a nut shell, I had a ton of fun working with all the guests and Enlighten Studios stylists. I would do it again.

Here’s me.

Parenthood – June Photo a Day – Mighty Mud Mania

Best bit of your weekend – Mighty Mud Mania

The Mighty Mud Mania has been organized in Arizona for years. My brother and I even went as kids. So as you can imagine the parent of 2 boys this a must do event. It is a free event so even thought my kiddos decided to stay in one place the whole time, sandcastle, trench making area, it was OK. They had a blast. Even with all the crowd we were able to find rockstar parking. (My husbands super hero ability) C Boy even found a friend from his soccer team there.

They decided not to participate in the obstacle course or some of the super muddy pits but did find a few water slides to go down and a sprinkler area. The fire department was even there spraying down the muddy people. I guess there is an adult course/area as well. You won’t be seeing me over there anytime soon.

My understanding is that this even is put on all over the country so if there is one near you go check it out especially if you have boys.

Outside – Photo a Day May (2,14, 22, 25, 31)

All these photos are inspired and taken outside in Arizona.

2. Skyline  This is my skyline I see everyday.

I thought I’d add this one which is the tree in the back yard.

14. Grass  The grass in my yard is dead… but I do have a few plants that aren’t dead yet… this is one of them. It is a garlic plant, it looks like grass and has a beautiful bloom. I still haven’t figured out if we have garlic somewhere.

22. Pink  May 22 is our anniversary. This pretty pink flower was outside the restaurant we went to for our date.

25. Unusual  I had a wonderful opportunity to have breakfast with the other moms from the kindergarten class C Boy attends. I found this fountain in the plaza near the restaurant.

Unusual – Fountain

31. Something Beautiful  I made a delivery to a client at her office. This is the front of the office. The fountain and surroundings are so beautiful. If the boys are with me they really love running around the fountain.

Button – I was trying to make a heart with these buttons but they didn’t want to coroborate. So this is what was created from a bag of craft buttons.  Turned out rather pretty.  Love the colors.

Button - Cross

Sun – The sun in Arizona is sooo bright so capturing it can be tricky. Here is what I was able to get today…
